Pepper is a vegetable that is popular both due to its taste and decorative qualities, but also due to its health-promoting properties.
Eating this vegetable strengthens vitality and improves libido (it is considered an aphrodisiac).
It is low in calories, so it supports the fight against overweight. It is also considered a vitamin bomb - rich in vitamin C,
beta-carotene and vitamins with antioxidant properties: A and E (referred to as the vitamins of fertility and youth).
Additionally, pepper contains mineral salts such as potassium and calcium, as well as valuable flavonoids with anti-inflammatory,
antibacterial and immune-supporting properties. Eating pepper lowers blood pressure and protects against cardiovascular diseases.
Polyphenols contained in paprika remove free radicals, which accelerate the aging process of the body.
Historically, the consumption of pepper in Europe is linked with the discovery of the West Indies by Christopher Columbus.
The explorer brought this vegetable to Spain at the turn of the 14th and 15th centuries. Originally, the pepper comes from South and Central America,
where it has been cultivated since around 2500 b.c.e. Aztecs flavoured their food with smashed paprika.
They also used pepper powder in order to repel an enemy attack.
Pepper is a thermophilic plant. In Polish climate, its cultivation is not easy.
The farms located in the so-called "the centre of pepper", which includes Potworów and Klwów,
there are favorable conditions for the production of pepper. This area is warmer than the others.
Statistically, in spring there are 44 days more without frost than in neighboring regions of Poland.
This gives the possibility of entry earlier into cultivation and obtaining an earlier and higher yield. For the cultivation of pepper,
we use fertile and well-drained soil, supporting growth with humic acids. We grow peppers from seedlings, maintaining
a constant humidity in a bright position of tunels.
